"New Lost Emission Credits Calculator Now Available From Scott Specialty Gases"
December 16, 2004, Plumsteadville, PA

Article/News Release:
Contact: Robert Davis, 215-766-8861 or rdavis@scottgas.com

Scott Specialty Gases recently revised its popular Lost Emission Credits calculator to reflect rising market values for SO2 and NOx. The easy-to-use slide chart identifies and links potential lost revenue to the degree of inaccuracy of calibration gases used to calibrate Continuous Emission Monitoring systems (CEMs). A CEM that has not been calibrated accurately can lead to overstating emissions, costing a company hundreds of thousands, even millions of dollars in unclaimed emission credits.

The EPA requires that the actual mixture concentration of a CEM calibration gas (commonly called an EPA protocol gas) must be within 2% of the certified concentration, as stated by the manufacturer of the mixture at the time of preparation. In a recently published blind audit conducted by the EPA, 26% of mixtures made by various manufacturers did not meet this minimum specification. All of the gas mixtures manufactured by Scott however, passed the EPA audit. Mixture accuracy for Scott's RATA Class; EPA protocol gases is guaranteed to be +/-1%.

A free Lost Emission Credits calculator may be obtained by calling 800-21-SCOTT or by requesting it online at: www.scottgas.com
